Endemol Shine UK, the production company behind Big Brother in the UK, has been given the go ahead to extend the Big Brother house and outside studio sets for the upcoming summer series.
Back in January it emerged that the production company had seeked approval for new plans to extend the house by almost 700 meters, including a second garden.
The plans have now been approved by Hertsmere Borough Council with no objections by the local residents. Cllr Farida Turner said of the approval: “I am very proud of the studio and they should be allowed to go through with their proposal.”
Although the house will now be extended in size this will not increase the size of the actual Big Brother compound meaning that crowd capacity will decrease from 470 people to 400.
Big Brother UK is set to start in June.
